The organization of this event is a collaborative effort between the Nottingham Dhamma School and Shanthi Vihara, Nottingham. Please find the details of the event below.

The event will be held on March 30th, 2025, at the usual venue: Crabtree Community Centre, Bullwell, NG6 8AX, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The agenda is as follows.
Programme:
- Illumination of the Oil Lamp
- Opening and welcome speech
- Performance of the Awrudu Song by NDS Children
- Traditional New Year Games
- Awurudu Kema Mesaya
- Revering Parents
- Presentation of Certificates
- Vote of Thanks

Exhibition of Creations by NDS Students
In anticipation of the Sinhala New Year celebration on March 30th 2025, we are pleased to announce a new initiative/item to encourage children to deepen their understanding of our Sinhala traditions and foster a positive attitude.
We invite all NDS children to engage in this activity, allowing you to demonstrate your talents and showcase your comprehension of Sri Lankan values. Each participant will receive recognition and appreciation for their contributions, through their work, creations, or drawings.
Accepted categories:
- Drawings (On A4 or A3 sheet)
- Printed Drawings (Digital arts)
- Essays (Single page)
- Poems (Simple poems)
- Clay creations (Objects or 3D models)

Who is eligible to participate in this exhibition?
All NDS children are welcome to take part. If you are a recent addition to NDS, you are also encouraged to join in this showcase.
How can you participate?
Kindly complete the attached form, at the bottom or click here.
What can you submit?
For Levels 0 and 1, you may create a simple drawing that aligns with the “Sinhala New Year” theme and reflects Sinhala traditions and culture. Drawing can be done on an A4 sheet. Please leave a margin around 2 cm or more. Read the category section for more info.
For higher levels, submissions may include articles, poems, personal experiences, or any other creative work.
When should you submit your item?
Please ensure that you submit the form before or on this Saturday. Handover your work on 16th March (the next NDS day) to your class teacher. Please write your name on the sheet or on any enclosure you bring.
Why should you participate?
This is an excellent opportunity for you to display your talents and enhance your understanding of Sri Lankan cultural and traditional values. We look forward to appreciating the work of every child.
Where will your work be exhibited?
Once you have submitted your creation, all works will be showcased on the day of the event.
